JinHo was imported from Korea as a gamble.  I had never interacted with his breeder in person, never visited his dogs in person, and had not done a hands-on in-person evaluation of the prospective pup.  Though I have seen pictures of his ancestors and seen regular updates of the litter, I had only met one ancestor about 4 generations back in his lineage.  The ancestor was a white dog named Bawoo who was imported to Los Angeles as a senior dog.  I remember Bawoo as dignified-friendly towards people.  He also had an intact retrieving ball drive.

The entire importing experience was highly stressful, but with the help of a bilingual Japanese Akita friend Tae Kim who was in CA and his friend Geen Kim who lived in the same city as the breeder, JinHo made it safely to the U.S.

JinHo's formal registration name is a nod to the enormous help Tae Kim had provided.

I am extremely pleased with how my gamble has paid off. JinHo is an outgoing dog who is socially attracted to people.  He is unfazed with being with other dogs and has been fine with dogs of all sizes.  He walked through my agility equipment without me needing to introduce him to it.  He has high toy drive and good retrieving drive.  His prey drive and house-guarding instincts are what I am more familiar with in my old Jindos.  Housebreaking has been a piece of cake, with him literally throwing himself at the door when he needs to go out.

JinHo was the sire of Litter A in 2014 and Litter G in 2022.   He has produced 3 UKC Champions, and three of his offsprings have titled in lure coursing and rat hunting dog sports.
